The connecting rod, also known as the piston rod, connects the piston to the crankshaft and is an important part of the engine. The small head of the connecting rod is connected with the piston pin, and the big head is connected with the crank pin of the crankshaft, passing the force borne by the piston to the crankshaft, and transforming the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotating motion of the crankshaft. The connecting rod is subjected to alternating loads of compression, tension, bending and impact. The connecting rod is generally made of medium carbon steel, alloy steel or quenched and tempered steel by die forging or roll forging, and then machined and heat treated.
