A glow plug is a heating element that heats incoming fuel and air to encourage efficient fuel combustion in a diesel engine. The fuel combustion starts your engine so that you can drive. Originally glow plugs were only used for preheating during the initial ignition. However, with modern direct-injection engines, post glow becomes more essential than ever. It allows the engine to run in a comfortable, quieter and fuel-efficient manner, even in the case of stop-start or city traffic.

(1) the cylinder head is affected by high temperature and high pressure gas, and bears a large bolt pre-tightening force, resulting in large mechanical stress. (2) The structure of the cylinder head is complex, and the temperature field is seriously uneven, leading to large thermal stress, which will cause cracks and overall deformation of the cylinder head. Therefore, the design requirements of the cylinder head are (1) sufficient stiffness and strength, small working deformation, and ensure the sealing. (2) Reasonable arrangement of combustion chamber, valve and airway to ensure the working performance of the engine. (3) Good manufacturability, uniform temperature field as far as possible, reduce thermal stress, avoid hot cracking phenomenon.
