The window lift on most cars uses a really neat linkage to lift the window glass while keeping it level. A small electric motor is attached to a worm gear and several other spur gears to create a large gear reduction, giving it enough torque to lift the window.The term lifting window describes a window that opens upwards, i.e. lifts. It is often used synonymously with the term vertical sliding window but is subordinate to it in terms of terminology.

A power window switch is a switch that controls the movement of a car's window. It is usually located on the driver's side door panel. There are two types of power window switches: momentary and latching. A momentary switch will only stay in the "on" position while the button is being pressed.

In automatic transmissions, a shift cable connects the shift lever to the transmission. If you change gears from park to reverse, the gear selector pulls the shift cable until the lever locks into reverse gear. Manual transmission shift cables function similarly, but are usually two instead of just one.

All of these parts can often be found in what's referred to as a “timing belt kit” which will contain the belt, all necessary pulleys and tensioners that operate the belt, and many times the water pump as well.Some signs are much more obvious, such as cracking or fraying. Belts with that kind of damage should be replaced immediately. A further way to check is to press a fingernail or the tip of a screwdriver gently onto the belt. If the pressure does not leave a mark, it means the rubber is becoming too stiff.

The purpose of a sealing ring is to ensure a secure and reliable seal between two mating surfaces, preventing the leakage of fluids or gases, keeping contaminants out, maintaining proper functionality, and enhancing safety.As the name suggests, o-rings are round, ring-shaped sealing devices that sit in a groove between two parts, which are often cylindrical. It is the compression of the two parts that allow the o-ring to form an air or liquid-tight seal.

The strike plate is attached to the door frame with screws. The metal bolt of the deadbolt lock slides into the strike plate to secure the door soundly to the door frame. A high security strike plate is required to keep the metal bolt from being kicked from the door frame when locked.An electric door strike is used on door frames for access control. It activates every time someone tries to open the door. When a person uses an ID card, a fingerprint, or enters a pin code, the system sends a signal to the electric strike. The electric strike is then released to grant access if this signal is correct.

Timing belt pulleys are used to connect and synchronize the rotation between two shaft systems. Automobiles, for example, use a timing belt pulley component to link the cam and crankshafts. The gear body of the pulley is lined with teeth that ensure the shafts do not slip.For timing belt pulleys, they are used in industries where need an extremely high level of synchronicity. And the pulley must be able to perform under high rotational speeds of thousands of RPMs which can easily be seen during a typical driving profile.
